COLOUR - The Yellow Place by Martin Spackman (9 marks)
Westcourt Camera Club
This is a very topical subject matter due to the colour palette and wooden window shutters.
Overall the image has been exposed correctly and the elements of the image kept to a minimum with the bright yellow door taking centre stage. I feel it is the time of day and those harsh shadows that are cast from the midday sun onto the doorway that do not add to the image. Three elements in this image would have been the magical number but with the fourth element of the flowers on the top left it upsets that balance. These can be removed in post processing with content aware or the cloning tool as it was not possible to do so when the image was being captured in camera. - Matthew
