MONO - ON THE FIDDLE ? by JOHN TINMAN (13 marks)
CB Camera Club
What a great subject. Perfect for mono, but I feel you have worked very hard darkening the background to obliterate whatever is behind him. I feel you have over worked the picture in doing so losing quality. Sue Sibley
The composition of the fiddle player is fantastic. No eye contact from the subject is necessary, as the viewers eyes are held on the subject. The fiddler forms that perfect triangle from the head down to his right elbow and across to the left hand holding the fiddle and up along the fiddle to his eyes. The detail in the clothing, skin and fiddle bring this subject to life. That slight movement in the hand with the fiddle bow captures the music that is being played. The dark background is clean with no distractions so all the attention can remain on the fiddle player. - Matthew
